August: Top Attention-Grabbing Shows for Broadcast and Cable

Food and Fresh Scripted Content Top August Program Attention

As viewers enjoyed their last full month of summer, they paid attention to food. Three of the top five cable programs were food programs, highlighting the success of an August Grill Masters series on “Chopped”. But while viewers enjoyed softer food content, they also appreciated scripted original content.

Highlights:

  • The Food Network programs took three of the top five cable programs: “The Great Food Truck Race”, “Chopped”, and “Kids Baking Championship”.
  • It’s not evicted yet! “Big Brother” on CBS continues to deliver large audiences who pay attention. This is the second month in a row that the program has made the list.
  • Summertime attention typically goes to reality and game shows, but CBS’ “Salvation” and USA Network's “The Sinner” topped the broadcast and cable lists, suggesting viewers also enjoy scripted original content.
