Frequently Asked Questions

What is the data source for the TVision Signal?

Data included in the TVision Signal is collected from TVision’s opt-in panel of TV viewers. The TVision panel is demographically representative and enables passive, accurate, person-level insight into how people really watch both linear and CTV. Learn more about the TVision Panel here. For the TVision Signal, we are specifically looking at the viewing behavior of persons P2+ for the time period listed. Data collected in this report can also be found in TVision Total View, the industry’s most comprehensive platform for measuring and analyzing person-level viewing engagement with content and ads across both linear and CTV environments. What is TVision’s Power Score?

TVision’s Power Score is a completely new ranking designed to factor both viewership and engagement when measuring the performance of CTV programming. The Power Score is based on the industry’s most comprehensive view of the CTV landscape - TVision measures activity across over 1,000 apps - and enables an accurate understanding of the relative performance of CTV content across any app. This new way to understand show performance will enable industry-watchers to more quickly identify trending content and CTV’s hottest programming, and even uncover hidden-gems distributed through smaller apps.

The TVision Power Score factors in four key metrics: the amount of time viewers pay attention to the program, the amount of program time available for the season, the program’s reach, as well as the application’s reach. This combination of metrics was chosen to enable a neutral look at the quality of programming and its unique, inherent ability to draw in viewers - regardless of the scale of the platform, or the program’s release schedule.

What does “Trending Up” mean in the Power Score?

“Trending Up” programs are either new to the Power Score list, or have risen at least 5 positions in the overall rank since the last period.

What is the TVision Power Score Methodology?

The TVision Power Score factors in four key metrics: the amount of time viewers pay attention to the program, the amount of program time available for the season, the program’s reach, as well as the application’s reach. This combination of metrics was chosen to enable a neutral look at the quality of programming - regardless of the scale of the platform, or the program’s release schedule.

How often do you publish the TVision Power Score?

TVision will update the Power Score ranking for the Top 20 CTV Shows every week. The Top 20 CTV Movies will be updated every month. Data will generally be available on Tuesdays or Wednesdays, and reflect back on the prior week (Monday - Sunday), or the prior month.

Some of the shows on other lists, such as the Netflix Top Ten, are not on the Power Score list. Why?

The Power Score is meant to reflect how engaged viewers are with the content, regardless of the scale of the platform. If a program does not engage a significant portion of the app’s viewers, or capture high attention, that will lower the score.

What does Household Reach mean?

The app was accessed within the household at least once in the past six months.

What is a Hybrid SVOD/AVOD?

Some apps, such as Hulu, offer both paid subscription and ad-supported tiers. TVision classifies these apps as Hybrid SVOD / AVOD and does not distinguish viewer behavior on the app by subscription plan.

Does your Power Score include content on FAST apps?

Yes, we report on over 1,000 apps, including FAST apps like Pluto, Tubi, and The Roku Channel.

What qualifies as a “New Show”?

“New Shows” have aired new episodes within the last 30 days. Older shows have not aired new episodes within the last 30 days.

Are Weekly release shows counted as Binged Shows once the entire season is available?

Yes, Weekly Releases are defined as shows that have more than one release date. The definition does not change once all episodes are available.
