The CTV Shows That Engaged Audiences in August 2022

In this report, we provide a unique look at how audiences engage with programming across the CTV landscape. You'll find charts ranking CTV programming by Share of Time Spent, Viewer Attention, Co-Viewing, and Binge Rates.   

Netflix had a particularly good August - their programming reclaimed a clean sweep of our "Share of Time Spent Viewing" list for original episodic television in the month. Both "The Sandman," and "Virgin River" claimed nearly as much share as the incredibly popular, "Stranger Things" had the month prior (15% in July 2022). But viewers paid high levels of attention to programming across the CTV landscape. HBOMax's "The Last Movie Stars" and Hulu's "Maggie" both kept viewers engaged.

Our Attention Index identifies how viewers paid attention to programming compared to the average linear program. CTV programming in general outperforms linear, but programs like "The Last Movie Stars" on HBOMax really broke through to capture attention.
