In our monthly look at CTV programming performance, we identify the top new, episodic shows for Share of Time Spent, Co-Viewing, Attention, and Binge Watching.
February may be widely considered a month for romance, but mysteries and thrillers dominated as the genres where viewers spent their time. Netflix captured the highest share of time spent with shows like action-adventure mystery "Outer Banks," psychological thriller "You," and true crime series, "Murdaugh Murders: A Southern Scandal." Notably, Peacock disrupted Netflix's clean sweep of the top five spots in January with the murder mystery, "Poker Face." Keep reading to see which other CTV shows engaged viewers.
Our Share of Time Spent metric measures the total time viewers spend with a program as a percent of all viewing for new, original episodic CTV content during the time period. In February, Netflix's "Outer Banks" topped the list as the action-packed teen drama series kicked off its third season toward the end of February. It was joined by three other Netflix shows, including the hit series "You," which dropped the first half of its fourth season. Peacock also broke into the top five with its murder mystery series, "Poker Face."
|Program||Application||Share of Time Spent|
|Murdaugh Murders: A Southern Scandal||Netflix||6%|
Our Attention Index identifies how viewers paid attention to programming compared to the average linear program and is a good indicator of the strength of programming and its ability to keep people in the room. In February, "Fauda" rose to the top with its fourth season. "Carnival Row" also commanded high attention as its long-awaited second and final season dropped.
These are the shows that viewers watched together in February 2023. Our Co-Viewing Rate measures the percentage of time viewers watched the program with more than one person in the room. TVision's person-level insights enable measurement of CTV co-viewing and can provide brands and apps with accurate co-viewing multiples. Disney+, which typically sees high co-viewing rates, led the way with its Star Wars animated series, "The Bad Batch." Reality TV also made a strong showing with Peacock's "The Traitors" and Netflix's "Bake Squad."
|Star Wars: The Bad Batch||Disney+||71%|
|Nate Bargatze: Hello World||Amazon||60%|
|Mayor of Kingstown||Paramount+||59%|
